There's no way I'm old enough to be working full time. I swear I was just stressing about who is gonna ask me to prom last week.
But as it turns out, it's true. Here I am, 21 years old and working full time. This is what people do, right? If you're in college you've probably heard about how you need an internship the summer between your junior and senior year of college. After a lot of stress and many applications here I am: employed at a Fortune 100 company working on their company non-profit/corporate philanthropic efforts.
Do I miss carefree summers where only getting up to head to the pool was a daily routine? Yes and no. I think that it's important to find an internship/job where you actually look forward to getting out of bed because the work excites you. I'm not going to lie, I sometimes struggle to wake up in the mornings but once I'm up, I'm ready to tackle the day.
I also think that living alone, working full time, and being away from friends and family during these past few weeks has made me pumped for my senior year of college. I really need to cherish the time I have with the people I love before this chapter of my life comes to an end.
I plan to write more about what this internship has taught me so far...especially about hard work and trusting yourself. But for now, I'll just leave it at this: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. –Ferris Bueller" -Andie Dutton
